Statement from Yassamin Ansari Following Tonight’s Results

Yassamin Ansari issued the following statement:

“After today’s final vote tabulation, our campaign has maintained the lead in our race for AZ03. This close race is a testament that every vote really counts and I could not be more proud of the dedicated staff and volunteers who organized for every single vote over the past year. As the daughter of immigrants who taught me how to be an organizer, I am so grateful for the thousands of voters across the district who believed in our campaign, and in our positive message of progressive results.  

While we are confident this lead will hold, it is important to let the vote-counting process fully play out through an automatic recount, and we welcome the process ahead. We look forward to working with Maricopa County and the Attorney General’s office to ensure a smooth process going forward. Every vote matters and I’d like to thank the hard working election workers committed to counting every vote. They make democracy work.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our campaign each step of the way. We’ll patiently await completion of the recount along with you and have full confidence in our election officials as we go through this process together.”
