Know Your Rights
RECORDING FEDERAL AGENTS:
- It is legal to film on public property. Even if a federal agent attempts to intimidate or prevent you from filming, it is legally protected on public property.
- Narrate what you see with timestamps and witness accounts. Do not attempt to block or interfere with lawful immigration enforcement activities.
- The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has repeatedly lied about the actions of federal agents — video evidence is the best defense in court to deliver justice to people who have been detained and victims of violence.
GRABANDO A AGENTES FEDERALES:
- Es legal grabar en propiedad pública. Incluso si un agente federal intenta intimidarte o impedir que grabes, estás protegido legalmente si te encuentras en propiedad pública.

FREE SPEECH ACTIVITIES:
- Regardless of your immigration status, the Constitution protects the right to engage in peaceful protest in “traditional public forums” like streets, sidewalks, or public parks.
- Speech combined with illegal activity (trespassing, disobeying lawful order by a police officer) may not be protected by the First Amendment.
- Speakers can be arrested for inciting imminent violence, but are not punishable by law for advocating a violation of the law.

IN CASE OF ARREST:
You have the right to remain silent and may request to speak with a lawyer.
You are not required to reveal your legal status or provide your full name to ICE or CBP – however, you are required to provide your name to police.
If you are not a U.S. citizen and ICE requests your immigration papers, you are required to present them if you have them.
You have the right to refuse a warrantless search by an immigration agent.
EN CASO DO ARRESTO:
Tienes el derecho a guardar silencio y puedes solicitar hablar con un abogado.
No estás obligado a proclamar tu estatus legal o tu nombre ni apellidos a ICE o Oficina de Aduanas y Protección Fronteriza de Estados Unidos (CBP) – sin embargo, estás obligado a identificarse por nombre a la policía.

To locate an individual detained by ICE, contact Arizona ICE facilities and detention centers with the full name and A-number of the individual detained.
Detainees may also be located at a county jail pending an immigration proceeding.

Memorize contact information for emergency contacts and your immigration lawyer.
Do not interfere in a confrontation between an agent and detainee – you may risk criminal charges for obstructing an arrest, harassment, or assault of a federal agent, or injure yourself in the process.
