Legislation introduced by Democratic Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari of Arizona would curb funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and require detention oversight.

Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari (D) has spoken out against for-profit immigration detention centers and called for ending them altogether. As the Arizona Democratic congressional representative of District 3, she has also demanded the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

“There is no accountability for these for-profit detention centers under Donald Trump. They don’t care about these people.”

“Every American agrees we need a secure border,” she said. “But we also need humanity, accountability, and real solutions. That’s what I’m fighting for.”
