Campaign Finance Reports Show That Yassamin Ansari Leads Fundraising In Every Quarter Since The Race Began And Maintains Two-To-One Cash on Hand Advantage

PHOENIX, AZ – On April 15th, FEC campaign finance reports showed that Former Phoenix Vice Mayor Yassamin Ansari has led all candidates for the Democratic nomination for Arizona’s Third Congressional District in every quarter since the race began. The Ansari campaign finished with more than twice as much cash on hand as the next competitor ($902,409 to $447,986) for the second quarter in a row. In the new year, the Ansari campaign has received endorsements from local leaders, national organizations like Foreign Policy for America, and a majority of labor unions in this race including the Arizona Building & Construction Trades Council, Laborers International Union of North America, Arizona Pipe Trades, Association of Professional Flight Attendants, and Ironworkers Local 75.

Campaign Manager, Pasquale Luz, issued the following statement:

“Voters in Arizona’s Third District continue to be impressed with Councilwoman Ansari and her experience and vision for the community. In her last week on the Phoenix City Council, Councilwoman Ansari continued to stand up for working families by passing a landmark Worker Heat Safety Ordinance that will protect more than 10,000+ workers during Phoenix’s upcoming extreme heat season. It’s these types of results that continue to resonate with grassroots supporters, voters, and all Arizonans.”

We won!

It’s hard to put my feelings into words. I’m elated, of course — but more than that, I’m honored, I’m inspired, and I’m deeply grateful.

This historic victory belongs to all of us. It belongs to everyone in our Phoenix and Glendale community who believed in a progressive future and went to work for it.

This victory is the product of more than 165,000 doors knocked in the pouring rain and the blistering heat. It’s the result of over 25,000 phone calls, and nearly $2 million contributed by folks from every walk of life.

We won this primary election without a dime of corporate PAC money. We ran a campaign on progressive policies and real results. And we’re just getting started.

Now, we turn our attention to November. Turning out the vote here in Maricopa County is on the critical path to victory — and we’ve got our work cut out. Can I count on you to join us in this next chapter?
