Bolick and King voted to uphold 1864 state abortion law to ban abortion in Arizona

PHOENIX, AZ – Today, former Phoenix Vice Mayor Yassamin Ansari called on voters to vote no on Supreme Court Judges Clint Bolick and Kathryn Hackett King in November’s upcoming retention election after voting to uphold a 160-year-old law to ban abortion in Arizona.

Former Phoenix Vice Mayor Yassamin Ansari issued the following statement:

“I will be voting no on Judges Bolick and King this November and I encourage all Arizonans to do the same. Extremist Republicans continue to attack our rights: our right to vote, our right to safe and secure elections, and now, our right to have an abortion and bodily autonomy. After a Republican governor expanded the court to accommodate Judges Bolick and King, we are again seeing the consequences of what extremist Republicans in power will do. We need to vote no on Judges Bolick and King in November’s upcoming retention election.”

We won!

It’s hard to put my feelings into words. I’m elated, of course — but more than that, I’m honored, I’m inspired, and I’m deeply grateful.

This historic victory belongs to all of us. It belongs to everyone in our Phoenix and Glendale community who believed in a progressive future and went to work for it.

This victory is the product of more than 165,000 doors knocked in the pouring rain and the blistering heat. It’s the result of over 25,000 phone calls, and nearly $2 million contributed by folks from every walk of life.

We won this primary election without a dime of corporate PAC money. We ran a campaign on progressive policies and real results. And we’re just getting started.

Now, we turn our attention to November. Turning out the vote here in Maricopa County is on the critical path to victory — and we’ve got our work cut out. Can I count on you to join us in this next chapter?
