PHOENIX, AZ – Today, Senator Mark Kelly announced his support for former Phoenix Vice Mayor and City Councilwoman Yassamin Ansari in the race for Arizona’s Third Congressional District. 

Senator Kelly issued the following statement: 

“Arizona needs experienced leaders with a vision for how to improve the lives of working families. That’s why I’m proud to endorse Yassamin Ansari today in the race for Arizona’s Third Congressional District. Her experience as Phoenix Vice Mayor and City Councilwoman means she understands her district and I know she’ll be a champion on issues that matter to Arizonans — like climate change, reproductive rights, and an economy that works for everyone.” 

Yassamin Ansari issued the following statement:

“Mark Kelly has been a trailblazer in the Senate and one of Arizona’s most trusted leaders, and I am honored to earn his endorsement. His record of working across the aisle to pass legislation that matters to Arizonans is inspiring and I can’t wait to work alongside him in Washington.”

We won!

It’s hard to put my feelings into words. I’m elated, of course — but more than that, I’m honored, I’m inspired, and I’m deeply grateful.

This historic victory belongs to all of us. It belongs to everyone in our Phoenix and Glendale community who believed in a progressive future and went to work for it.

This victory is the product of more than 165,000 doors knocked in the pouring rain and the blistering heat. It’s the result of over 25,000 phone calls, and nearly $2 million contributed by folks from every walk of life.

We won this primary election without a dime of corporate PAC money. We ran a campaign on progressive policies and real results. And we’re just getting started.

Now, we turn our attention to November. Turning out the vote here in Maricopa County is on the critical path to victory — and we’ve got our work cut out. Can I count on you to join us in this next chapter?
