Yassamin Ansari Wins in Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District

PHOENIX, AZ – Today, the race for Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District was called in favor of Democrat Yassamin Ansari. 

Ansari issued the following statement:

“I’m deeply honored and grateful for the trust that the people of Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District have placed in me. This campaign has been a journey of listening, learning, and connecting with the many diverse communities that make up Phoenix, Glendale and Guadalupe. Together, we will work toward a brighter future for all, including an economy that lifts up the middle class, restoring reproductive rights, and ambitious climate action. 

As the daughter of immigrants, and as a young person, I will bring a unique perspective to the halls of Congress. The issues that matter most to me are the issues that affect young voters, their children, and future generations. My focus will always be Arizona families. 

I want to thank my supporters, my family, and my team, as well as the many organizations and labor unions who have supported our campaign. I couldn’t have done it without any of you and I will bring your trust and support with me to Washington.”

Ansari will be the youngest woman in the 119th Congress and the first Iranian-American Democrat ever elected to Congress. 

Ansari will officially take office on January 3, 2025 and is committed to being accessible and responsive to the needs of her constituents. Throughout the campaign, Ansari focused on key issues such as an economy for all, climate change, and reproductive rights, emphasizing the need for policies that prioritize the well-being of constituents. After serving as Phoenix Vice Mayor and City Councilwoman, Ansari has a proven track record of working collaboratively to drive meaningful change.

The campaign was bolstered by an enthusiastic grassroots movement, with volunteers and supporters rallying to promote Ansari’s vision for a more equitable, sustainable and prosperous 3rd Congressional District.
