PHOENIX, AZ – Following Donald Trump’s victory today, newly elected Congresswoman from Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District Yassamin Ansari issued the following statement:
“Like so many of you, I am devastated by the outcome of the election and deeply fearful of what the consequences of another Trump presidency will look like – for our freedoms, for the economy, for our reproductive rights and for our democracy.
Millions of Americans poured their hearts and souls into Kamala and Tim’s campaign. We were collectively fighting for a new way forward where all Americans are afforded equal measures of dignity, respect and opportunity.
Unfortunately, the election results make clear that our fight is only just beginning. As Vice President Harris said, when we fight we win and sometimes that fight takes some time.
Today, that fight starts by making sure every vote is counted in every single election across the country, then working to flip House and Senate seats in 2026 to make a Democratic majority that can defeat his extremist agenda.
From my end, I will prepare to go to Congress and fight tirelessly against Trump’s dangerous Project 2025 agenda.
I will work hard to get things done and deliver results for the residents of Arizona’s 3rd District.
I will continue to raise funds, organize, and mobilize to support Democratic candidates and causes in Arizona and across the country.
Even in the shadow of this dark day, I see a glimmer of light in the millions of people who voted for a new generation of American leadership. I plan to remember and embrace that fact when things get tough over the next four years.”
